You name it, we tried it!!!
As one truly sleep deprived mom, I tried EVERYTHING to get my daughter to sleep. Everything from nursing to sleep, to rocking in her car seat, to car rides. Even the old banana tea trick. Nothing would work. And If anyone understands the frustration of not having your child sleep, it’s me. It came to a point where I was the only one who could put our daughter to sleep with nursing. And if that floor creaked while I was trying to sneak out one more time I was moving.
After a couple of years of this sleep time mayhem, my husband and I decided it was time to get some professional help. I thought to myself that there is no way this is going to work, but after trying all of the tricks I came to the realization that I was pretty much desperate.
We hired an amazing sleep consultant who did up a sleep plan that would work for our family. After two weeks both of our daughters were falling asleep on their own and sleeping through the night. Talk about AMAZING!!! The feeling of freedom. Kids go to bed, daddy and I actually get to sit and enjoy each others company again.
A few years later and we are still so thankful. That is why I had decided to become a Certified Sleep Consultant. I want to be able to share that feeling with parents. The feeling of having freedom, feeling rested and enjoy those amazing bedtime snuggles again.
I think some parents (um um…dads) think hiring a sleep consultant is not going to help, you’ve tried everything and nothing has been working. Sound familiar? Sometimes hiring a professional and putting things into a different perspective will shine a light on what could be. Like getting your children to sleep before 7:30 pm. Like dinner dates again with your partner, or watching a full movie (not two that would be crazy) instead of falling asleep at 9 pm on the couch. And not to forget the cranky 2 year old at dinner time, refusing to eat anything else but ketchup.
In conclusion decide with you and your partner what’s important to you. If sleep is in that equation then don’t hold out any longer and hire that professional. You won’t regret it. It will not only change your lives but your little ones will get the rest they need. Not only to grow but to have a happier, healthier, not so terrible two year old.
Oh and one more confession…..sometimes my husband and I have steak and lobster after the kids go to sleep!!!!
